Sanaz Asgarifar, doctoral student of the PhD in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, was the winner of the Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge 2018 with the project “Novel Treatment of Glioblastoma Brain Tumor using Bioelectronic Devices”.
The idea contest, launched by Fraunhofer AICOS, is aimed at students and researchers from Portuguese universities who have developed master’s or doctoral theses of excellence, whose research, of practical utility, focused on the areas of Information and Communication Technologies, Multimedia and other related sciences.
Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS is a research center of Fraunhofer Portugal dedicated to the development of market-oriented applied research solutions.
Sanaz Asgarifar developed and recently submitted his thesis in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications and was coordinated by Henrique Leonel Gomes and Maria da Graça Ruano, professors of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of UAlg.
The winning idea, entitled “Novel Treatment of Glioblastoma Brain Tumor using Bioelectronic Devices”, proposes a new treatment of brain tumor glioblastoma, using bioelectronic components.
