In today’s world of digitization, we have an app for everything, for watching movies, tv shows, travelling, finding location, games, entertainment, books even for dieting, monitoring health, heart beats, gymming and many more. Now another app is entering our arena but only on prescription.

Yes, you read it right, this is the first time that doctor is going to prescribe an app. US Food and Drug Administration(FDA) approved this and it will be commercialized in American market from 2018.

Name of the app is reSET and is developed by Pear Therapeutics. This app helps in getting rid of addiction to alcohol and drug. This app keeps track and monitors our eating habits like any other fitness app.

Although this app will guide you morally like clinical psychologist applying cognitive behavior therapy. This will ask you to answer some questions so that you stay ahead of your cravings. Clinicians monitor this activity from backend.
Pear Therapeutics has also developed an app called Bluestar, which helps in dealing with Type 2 diabetes. It provides motivational messages and suggests when to test blood sugar. It is not approved by FDA for treatment of diseases and hence not a prescription only app.

Apart from this there are many apps which help to quit smoking which are available to use without prescription. Along with this there are thousands of mobile health apps available for download that do not require FDA approval but are really helpful.
